Time For A Change

Beloved television star Meredith Baxter delivered the keynote address at the Mary Byron Foundation’s annual dinner gala event in December 2006. The employees of Appriss played a key role in organizing the successful event. Baxter, a champion of women’s rights, devotes much of her time to speaking about issues such as breast cancer and domestic violence awareness. She shared a moment with foundation leaders (left to right) Marcia Roth, executive director; John Byron, vice president; Baxter; and Pat Byron, president.

Valentine's Day

The Appriss Team organizes an annual Valentine’s Day bake sale to raise money for the Mary Byron Foundation. “This is a really fun event for us,” says Foundation President Pat Byron. “It’s gratifying to see people who are so busy make the time to contribute homemade items for this cause. Their hearts are definitely in the right place.”

3v3 Tournament

The Second Annual Appriss 3v3 Basketball Tournament in February 2007 gave team members a chance to work their magic on the hardwood and support domestic violence awareness. Players’ entry fees went directly to the Mary Byron Foundation.

Appriss Cares Fair

The First Annual Appriss Cares Volunteer Fair in September 2006 drew representatives from several victim service agencies in the Louisville area, including the Center for Women & Families, CASA of Jefferson County, the Home of the Innocents, Exploited Children’s Help Organization, the Mary Byron Foundation, and others. The event helped introduce Appriss employees to community service opportunities.

Victim Support

Appriss has been dedicated to serving victims since our formation in 1994. We created VINE®, the National Victim Notification Network, to keep victims informed about the custody status of their offenders. Today, VINE is available in thousands of communities across the nation.

Our company-wide effort, Appriss Cares, was created to build a culture of support and advocacy for crime victims in three key focus areas:

  • Outreach to victims’ service providers through national and state-level advocacy organizations and through grass-roots networking.
  • Refined sales, customer service, and training processes that will help us better serve victims.
  • Support of victim-related causes through employee volunteerism.
